I just watched order of the pheonix today and i think it was really good at the whole. They used a lot of new graphics. The speed of the movie was pretty fast, i doubt if people would understand it better if they have not read the book before.

It would cost me one hundred sixteen dollars to go see that movie because I live in a stupid little town with no theaters and it's a hundred dollars roundtrip to the nearest town that DOES have theaters.

I don't read the books and I was satisfied with this one...my friend, on the other hand, read the books and was disappointed that they left some things out. But, whatever.

I think reading the books for movies usually leads to a bit of disappointment. I think people need to just take the movie for what it's worth. Where could you possibly live where it would take that long to get to a theater?! That really sucks..... If it's that far to get to a theater, it must be that far to get to a lot of things. I would guess that there probably isn't a lot to do where you're from, eh?

I liked it, even though I read the book beforehand. I thought it was very pretty, especially the scenes in the ministry. Yeah, it was a bit rushed, but how are you really going to get all that plot in there without rushing it? Hah.

u can find that by reading any part of lord of the rings and then watching the film of the corresponding book. harry potter book is puny in front of lotr detail, but still the movies are understandable and exciting. It looked like both the acters and the director want to get it over with.

Did you see the previous HP movies ? If not, I'd be very surprised that you understood a thing ;-)

Anyway, like its predecessors, it was good as a film, but having read the two last books, some omissions appear to be really problematic... I am looking forward to film 7 out of academic interest alone ;-)

About lord of the rings... I saw the films before reading the books, and well, they were fairly good, I think. But after reading the books, which are a brilliant read, I noticed how distorted the films actually are. Filmmakers often over-emphasize scenes that will be impressive on screen; in the Lord of the Rings, this is battle, battle, battle. Thus, battle is, despite its comparatively minor role in the books, most of what happens in the films. In Harry Potter, the "action scenes" are more varied. IMHO, this is most visible in the Triwizard tournament: the dragon scene was way too long. Book 7 is very scarce of action scenes — as I said, it will be interesting.

Video games based on films based on good books can be even worse. I mean, no Lord of the Rings video game has anything to do with the original books by Tolkien except the world in which they play, and, perhaps, the order of certain mass murders.

The first half was pretty disappointing the second half of the movie more than made up for it.

Movie Spoiler: I think the reason they changed the scene in the DoM when Bellatrix doesn't just knock Sirius into the veil she actually curses him is because they didn't watn the audience that hadn't read the books to think ther was any way for him to come back.

Book Spoiler: The people who haven't read the books are going to be really shocked by the sixth. If i hadn't read the books I really would have thought that Harry and Luna had some kind of romantic dynamic in the OotP movie...
