Have you all seen the previews for this movie? It looks like a great thriller, and it stars Jake Gyllenthal and Robert Downey, Jr., among others. It is all about the hunt for the Zodiac killer. I am assuming it is based on actual events. Look like a good one!

It looks really awesome and I'm definitely going to see it ('cause I always like movies about serial killers) and I've always thought Jake was a good actor. It would have to do something really dramatic to suck, I think.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I have to agree with you! I saw Jake interviewed on a movie preview show, and saw even more clips of the movie. The true story itself is so gripping, so this movie has to be awesome. I really like Jake, too. I'll be in line to see it!

I don't see these types of movies in theatres, I only go to the theatres for big action movies, but I will definitely be checking this out when it comes out on DVD.

I saw a trailer on TV for it last night for the first time. I didn't even notice that Robert Downey Jr. was in it, but I think he's a great actor.

I wonder who directed it?

I thought this movie came out just last year but it turns out it is a different movie called "The Zodiac" based on the same events.

I watched both trailers and I have to say that I was more intrigued to watch the previously made movie. I'll probably rent it if it's out already.

Well, is "The Zodiac" about the Zodiac Killer specifically, like other serial killer movies like "Dahmer", "Bundy", "Night Stalker" and "Gien" (which were all crap, by the way)? 'cause "Zodiac" isn't technically about the killer, it's about the lives of those involved in hunting him, about the obsession. I'm not sure it delves much into the killer himself so much as what he did. That might account of the difference in interest.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I saw a few minutes of a documentary on Arts & Entertainment that was about the Zodiac killer. I think headway was made in breaking the code he used by a couple of teachers.

The older one looks serious, while the newer one has a kind of comical look to it.

Jake Gyllenhaal? He's also from Donnie Darko. And Bubble Boy. And The Day After Tomorrow, I think. Although he'll probably always be remembered for Brokeback Mountain. He's a very good actor, though.

I would have to agree.

It doesn't necessarily look comical, just not as serious when it's put up with the other trailer. Sorry I wasn't clear on the point I tried to put across.

The movie Zodiac is based on a book which is able the lives of the people who're trying to catch the killer. Since it's not actually about the killer, they don't need to catch him or anything.

Of course, they did make a Lacy/Scott Peterson story before that trial even ended, but that was made for TV

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I don't think I'll ever watch another movie with that Cowboy faggot again...oooh..sorry, is that politically incorrect? Too bad... A duck is a duck.
Same with Heath Ledger. It will be a cold day before I watch another movie starring him again. Ever heard of jumping the Shark?

You're confusing characters with actors. Neither Jake nor Heath are actually cowboys. I don't even think there are cowboys anymore.

Only a series can Jump the Shark. Jumping the Shark requires a continuous episodic narrative that at some point sours, typically due to a single event. Movies can't Jump the Shark unless there are sequels, and neither can the first episode of a TV Show.

It's based on a story which was based on real events. For example, if a movie is about a killer you can make it follow the killer and then you'd have a movie about the killer. However, if you chose to make it about the life of the cop chasing the killer, you'd have a movie that's influenced by the killer. So you're following the pursuit, not the killer and thus if the cop dies or something, the story ends - the killer doesn't have to be caught, the killer's only purpose in the movie is to affect the cops life...does that make any sense?

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?
