What's your opinion on the last two movies by Quentin Tarentino?

Personally I thought the first one was ridiculously amazing, but i was very, very disappointed in the second one because there just weren't enough fight scenes and Beatrix (Uma Thurman) didnt even use her sword in the entire second movie.

I loved them both...but I agree that there weren't enough fight scenes in the second. Although I understand that Quentin needed the second to explain a few things from the first one...but, there could have been more fighting along with it.

bleh. How boorish O.o; you don't need fighting to have a good movie. The first one was for the fight scenes, the second one was for the story...personally I loved both.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

its true u dont have to have lots of fight scenes to make a good movie but for this movie i believe more people were looking more into the action. But even the little fight scenes that there were in that movie, it was lousy and rather boring. And the 4 top assassins (discluding Uma) dont seem as tough as Quentin was trying to make them out to be. Bill actually seemed the easiest opponent to kill.

Hm..well, I wasn't ^_^; I went for plot. I always do.

Skilled fighters tend to lose their edge if they don't continue to work. If I listened right, the 4 assassains were more or less out of practice. Bill didn't actually fight, so oyu don't know how tough he was.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

"more people were looking more into the action"

Ripping an eyeball out and squashing it between one's toes is not action?

There was plenty of action, maybe lacking on the sword play, but still enough action and a story line to boot!

Yes i guess your right that we really dont know how tough Bill truly was but thats what i thought made the movie a bit disappointing.

As an action fan, I loved Kill Bill 1. And as an action fan, Kill Bill 2 sucked, but the story wasn't bad. I dug the part where she was buried in the coffin and had to break out. Cool scenario there. The wise teacher was a classic touch as well. Still, it was considered one movie that had to be broken into two parts to allow for time limits, so based on that, I enjoyed the first half more, only cause the second half got boring IMO...

In the theater, I heard a few people complain, "Where the hell was all the action from the first one?", regarding KB2.

It wasn't broken into two parts because of time constraints, they just wanted more money. Sucker 'em in with blood 'n guts on Kill Bill Vol. 1 and then get all the story in on Kill Bill Vol. 2. As a whole, with all things considered, it's a great movie with a great soundtrack.

During Kill Bill 1, I hated when the action sword fight scene (Uma Thurman vs the gang) went black and white instead of being in bloody color. I wonder if that was to keep the MPAA rating in the R range, or for style? It was great action scene regardless.

A little bit of both the way I see it. Tarantino is the kind of director who loves to pay homages to other types and styles of movies and obviously in this one we're fitted with a western revenge//japanese samurai//japanese anime type story and I think for what the movie was supposed to be, that is, just an entertaining movie and not the answer to life, he did very well.

I have them both on DVD...

The first one definately had more fight/action, but less story. The second told more of the story.

Quentin Tarrantino and CO. are S.M.A.R.T. What a way to make a quick few millions.

Both good movies if you like a good 4+ hour story to tie it all together.

I could do a lengthy review, but I need to be int he mood to watch them both again in order to give a biased remark. hehe

Tarantino was actually forced to make that particular scene in B&W due to the MPAA saying that scene was just too gory for an R rating. It was originally in full color, but that's the sacrifice he had to make for the movie to make most theaters. I'm sure we'll see a full-color version on some special anniversary edition twopack of both movies in 5 or 10 years ala Pulp Fiction, so just give it some time.

As far as the quality of movie 2 compared with movie 1, yes I agree that there was not as much action, but that's about as far as I will go regarding that. The entire second movie has a different purpose than that of the first film, or at least the first half of this really long film. Taking the movie in total, it is actually very similar to Pulp Fiction. The movie jumps around back and forth in time, telling the story in a non-linear fashion in only a way that Tarantino can do. In Pulp Fiction there was a similar chain of events, but it was done in about half the time as Kill Bill, so you don't realize the long portion of story and non-action that takes place in the middle. Kill Bill is quite an amazing acheivement on the part of Tarantino, considering he not only captured the magic of Pulp Fiction, but he improved upon it in a way that not many could think was possible, as Pulp Fiction was such an incredible movie. Kill Bill is every bit the movie PF was, and saying that Vol. 2 was "boring" is an injustice to the intent of the film.

Thanks for the MPAA info. As a story alone, I found the Kill Bill 2 interesting, but as an action fan hoping to see as much action as the first half of Kill Bill, that's what I meant by boring. It does seem Tarintino changed gears in the second half, aiming to tell a story, putting the action second, also considering the final "fight" between Bill and Uma wasn't very 'action-packed' compared to the other fights, referring to the intent of the second film.

I still wish the second film had just as much action as part one. That's really what I went to see it for, as an action fan, nothing against the story, which was fine.
