I just saw GoF last night with my girlfriend. I have regrettably not read the books, mostly for lack of real time. I have to say, I also had a hard time figuring out if I liked the movie. Obviously, I have read a lot of people who have also read the books say that is it not faithful to the books. I personally think the movie was good, after thought on the matter and really taking into account the overall feeling I got from the movie. I thinkt he movie is not meant for children, and neither was PoA for that matter either. The movies are much darker than the previous two, expecially GoF, and I think that the movie should not be for children under the age of 12, but that's just my opinion. But that being said, I think the movie was by itself a very good film. It did an excellent job of conveying the emotion needed for the obviously intense moments of the film. I worry about the last three movies however, as the books only get longer from this point on, and from what I understand, GoF the movie was less than 50% of the content of GoF the book. That simply isn't going to work, and the only alternative that I can forsee is that they start to make the next book as two movies. The other problem that I see is that the kids are really starting to look older, and if they want to maintain this cast, then J.K. Rowling needs to light a fire under her butt or the current cast will be 25 by the time they are ready to film the final movie. I still agree with Narcissa however, I think the movie was good overall. I am going to have to start to find time to read these books, as I hear they're quite good.

JKR has two years at most to finish the next book before the trio get too old for their parts. Dan, Emma, and Rupert are the same age as their characters they are portraying.

And oh my God, if they cut out the character of Nymphadora Tonks or Ginny's special scene in the next movie I'll go postal and refuse to watch the movie.

I was really happy to see Ginny Weasley in more shots because no one is going to expect what happens they don't start putting in those little tid bits that happened in the books.

(die you stupid Pumpkin Pie 'shippers!)

This movie sucked. I kinda like the first one, but after that, the flicks seemed more geared to appeasing the fans of the books.

...and I can't read.

as a HP reader, I can say that, as Harry Potter Films, the films became constantly worse. As movies, they became better.
The biggest mistake was to restrict the playing time this much (ok I don't know how long it is exactly, but it was definately too short)
