If it is anything like Doom 3 (which I read it is), I'll hate it. Doom 3 was too dark and got old, fast. At least the engine is making its way into other games.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

This game is a bit better than doom 3, but as previously posted it does get old fast, and online play isnt anything special

I like it. It is NOTHING like doom 3. For one thing, duane johnson is nowhere to be seen...

I don't like Quake 4's single player mode. It is too linear and Doom 3-like in terms of gameplay. The vehicles don't really add much too the game IMO. The only thing that I'm looking forward to is the multiplayer mods for Quake 4. I liked a lot of the mods in Q3, especially the weapons factory one.

It seems that most games are going for graphics over gameplay. This is a horrible trend and I hope gamers start to let these dumb companies know that WE WANT GOOD GAMES. I don't care about how it looks if I don't want to play it.

Really though, what's so bad about it? I personally really like the game play, and I don't mind how linear it is. I think of it as a sci-fi metal of honor, with strogg instead of nazi.

It's not *really* bad, I just thought there wasn't anything revolutionary about it. It didn't pull me in as much as the previous games did. Still, just like Q3, the multiplayer mode has promise.

I guess its another one of those games where your impression will be partly determined by your initial expectations. I'm just glad the assault rifle has a flashlight attachment. I mean, come on man, I'd is going to tell me that in the future they forgot how useful flashlights are in space or in huge facilities on mars?

Now that my system can run it, I know what ya mean. The multiplayer takes me back to Q3.

Yeah I noticed that at least you can have the flashlight out simultaneously. Not having one in Doom 3 (without getting a mod), was really a turn-off.

Well, it worked, but it was a MAJOR flaw in the logic of the story. The whole feel of quake 4 makes it seem like it takes place 50 years from now, and the inhabitants are regular ol' human beings. Doom 3 felt a little more removed, which is appropriate since it takes place on mars (or is it phobos? It was phobos in the original game...).

The only scripted thing in doom 3 which really wrecked it for me was the ammo/armor pickup being linked to spawns. Oive.

I'm really liking the stroggification effects thing in the latter part of the game. Oh lord, I can't wait for the mods!
