Burnout Revenge first impressions Old Mon Sep 26, 2005 5:13:44 PM #13451 Perm Link
I picked up Burnout Revenge yesterday and it is good so far. I check the online briefly, I didn't play online yet. It did crash once while trying to sign in (Thanks EA!). I did notice that I still had to use text to send messages to other people. This is Live 3.0 days, where is my voice messaging!?

Regardless, the gameplay is fun. Traffic checking is hilarious. The game's camera could be better, though. The crash mode is now tedious for some reason in my opinion. I want to do races and road rage. You can tell that there is rubberband AI, it is very noticable.

A bit more on the camera. When you take someone down, the camera sticks with the takedown for about 5 seconds, the game slows down, but you can't see where you are going. As soon as it speeds up, the camera zooms back to you. I crashed at least twice when this happened.

All in all, the game seems better than Burnout 3... so far.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

I've played the demo version of Burnout Revenge. Pretty cool, fast paced, quick decisions necessary. And the graphics kick ass like usual. I'll have to play the full version.

How's the game factor with this game compared to Gran Turismo type games? I know one's more serious while one's more about destruction, but which would you guys prefer? I mean, I like destroying other cars, and playing serious can get kind of boring, but maybe this game isn't good at cars destroying cars.

Burnout 3 was a better game than Revenge. Crash mode sucks now. At least it's not as bad as NFS: Most Wanted. 4 years down the line and Hot Pursuit 2 still kicks it's ass. Quite personally, I like GT4 and Sega GT (Dreamcast baby!), but every once n a while I pop in Burnout 3, Hot Pursuit 2 or Ridge Racer 5 (been playing that one quite frequently recently).

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

I picked Burnout 3 Takedown over Gran Turismo since GT seems like it's geared more towards car enthusiasts. I'm all for the playability factor and playing a game over and over. Gran Turismo's graphics are stunning, though. Burnout's graphics are pretty fine, though.
