The Wiikey is stopping legit games from working that are made with dual layer disks. That sucks. I can't find any update for the chip yet to fix this issue. This is a legit game I have.

Just to add, this is the USA release of the game. It is not a Japanese import.

Anyone have any information to add? It seems that the Wiikey needs to have an update.

Yea, I agree. After a week of debugging my wii and messing with the potentiometer on my laser. The wiikey seems to be toasting the USA legit brawl as well as a copy i burned that was set to autoboot. (I'm out of dual layers so I can't try burning more full copies.) It won't let it read it in any manner i have tried burning it. Maybe we can get some attention on the google by putting in key words.

Brawl US NTSC-U DRE Disk read error Wiikey legit real burned dual layer dvd9 smash bros

Maybe this will work, maybe not.

Yeah, I feel your pain.

Here's what I did to fix the issue in the meantime. This is really not the best thing to do, but it worked.

I disabled my Wiikey by screwing up the firmware update. You basically download the 1.9b update and on the part when it is actually writing the flash, unplug the Wii at about 65%. This will make your Wiikey die allowing you to play Smash!

The other option is to install a switch on the VCC for the Wiikey to turn it off.

Welcome to the forums. Please be sure to spread the word. Hopefully more people will chime in.
