This one is my guilty pleasure. I love this show especially the sadistic janitor whose name seems to be "Janitor" and the wimpy attorney, Ted. There was an episode in which Janitor was trying to gaslight a guy by making him think he was forgetting things and he swooped down from the roof in a hraness and swiped Ted right out the window. It was hysterical!

Scrubs is one of my all time favorite shows ever. I remember watching the first ever airing of the first episode way back in 2001 so I have fond memories :3 Not so much in recent days, but that show has some of the best writing I've ever seen and it really knew how to balance humor and drama expertly. I'm always torn between the Janitor and Dr. Cox has my favorite characters, they both have the best lines XD

Some of my favorite episodes are:
"My Screw-up" - where Dr. Cox's best friend Ben (his ex-brother-in-law) come visit the hospital after learning Ben had leukemia way in the first season.
"My Life in Four Cameras" - The episode where J.D. wishes life was like a sitcom (or a typical sitcom, since Scrubs technically IS a sitcom) and half the episode pokes fun at traditional sitcom conventions.
"My Way Home" - The Wizard of Oz homage! It's awesome XD
"My Musical" - because it's a musical and it's awesome.

I'm a huge fan and thus I ramble XD Awesome show. I do hope this current season picks up though =\ it's not as good as the older ones.

Fanfact: my icon is from Scrubs. If memory serves it's from the fifth season episode "My Half-Acre"

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

This season hasn't been quite as good, but Scrubs - even sub-par Scrubs is still one of the best comedies on television

Unfortunately Scrubs doesn't attract much of an audience and each year it is barely renewed.

I don't know why, but I have never had a chance to see this show. I keep meaning to, because I hear how good it is, but I can never remember when it comes on.

Part of the blame, in my opinion, is due to the general lack of advertisement on the end of NBC. Networks typically advertise their shows first and Scrubs was not produced by an NBC company (it was technically produced by Disney, so it should've been on ABC) and thus tends to get neglected by the network advertisers.

Also it's not a traditional sitcom nor a traditional drama show (Grey's is overly hyped in my opinion, especially since they were heavily inspired by Scrubs and use many of the same storylines). It's humor is oddly alternatively childish and over-the-public's head clever, often in the same episodes. It's such a great show, though, it should have a bigger audience.

Good news, though, it recently got popular after going into syndication (on Comedy Central and WGN) and if Zach Braff decides to stay, it's likely it'll go into a 7th (and final) season. Otherwise this season will be the last one =\

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I agree. This show has never gotten the publicity boost that it has deserved. The writing is normally tight, the performances right on the money and the subtle sub plots that carry over from episode to episode make this the best comedy on broadcast television, in my opinion. They need to put it in one time slot, publicize ir properly and let the show find the audience it deserves.

It has its moments. I think the tall doctor guy is hilarious.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

Comedy Central runs reruns of it 7-8 EST and those are pretty good. I think they are currently running the 2005 season but sometimes they jump around. John C. McGinley's character Dr Cox is so much like his character from Office Space. I love the way he keeps his face relatively passive when he's ranting.

Didn't it actually get cancelled once already and then get resurrected? It's a shame I think it's the best comedy that NBC has, they should put more effort into building the fan base

Naw, it's pretty much always been floating and has had a season every year since it first aired (you might be thinking of the year it aired mid-season, instead of starting at the beginning of the season). For the last couple seasons ABC has always said it would pick it up if NBC didn't, although I think it's retracted it's offer as of late.

I think they need to fix the writing before promoting it more. It's just not as good as it used to be and I don't want them calling attention to it when it's not very good (when it used to be bloody fantastic) =\
However, it still is one of the best shows on TV nowadays.

I do seem to recall they put the show on hiatus a few seasons back - basically, not airing new episodes for a few months while they decided what to do with it. Personally, I think that if the show got more promotion, the writing would find its way back to the quality of the first three seasons. Nobody puts heart and soul into creating something when you think nobody cares about what you do.

It wasn't really on hiatus, NBC didn't see it as bringing in any viewers at the beginning of the season so they pushed it to a 'mid-season' replacement (for shows that don't do well or shows that don't last the whole season - like American Idol or The Apprentice), because they wouldn't suffer from people changing the channel when Scrubs came on in the start of the season.

In anycase, I agree. The first three seasons were head and shoulders above the most recent three in terms of writing (although there as some great episodes in the latter three - My Life in Four Cameras, My Lunch, and My Musical, respectively). What I find kind of...ironic about the recent style of filming (shiny and bright and plastic) is that it's very similar to the sarcastic take on sitcoms in "My Life in Four Cameras" and the humor is also coming close.
The problem is, I guess, that after season three they began to shift focus off the hospital, which is part of the season the show is souring. This current season...they're not really dealing with any medical cases and when they do, they're stretching a bit t make it. I guess it's because they want to be semi-realistic about it (shows like ER and House, for instance, are not typical examples of what happens in a hospital) and after a while, if you don't throw in a bizarre medical case, you really don't have anything medical to write about.

I really like the show. I've just caught episodes here and there, but I haven't perceived the slump in the writing. I guess I've just missed those shows.

I like that the blonde (Elliot?) is so quirky. Wasn't there a show where she thought she could save people by flashing them?

Have you seen any season 6 episodes? Because the writing in this current season is god awful compared to the older seasons. I don't know what happened, it sounds more like it was written by fanfic writers than the actual writers =\
I liked Elliot before she became more...in control XD Because she was funny when she was neurotic.

Commercials are misleading, just like trailers. They very often misrepresent shows. And Scrubs has never had much love from the NBC advertisers, so they have bad commercials that rarely air.

When the characters begin to become caricatures of themselves, then it is time to shut down and go home. Some things should never be made - like the last season of "Will and Grace".

It's sad how some shows like Wonderfalls don't even get a chance to air an entire season while in production, and others just lie there and flop around.

Speaking of shows that went on too long, how about Friends?

Wonderfalls cancellation (and Dead Like Me's, even. Much too soon, even though it did get 2 full seasons) was a real tragedy. It was such a great show. I have the DVD and I watched some of the featurettes filmed before the show even aired and it had the people involved talking about their plans for the 2nd and 3rd seasons. It's just really sad to see such squashed potential. Frankly, unless a show is offensive or something, they should get a whole season. The 3 episodes they aired was not nearly enough to get an audience.

Friends really died at the end of it's run =\ It was never a particularly deep show, but I do enjoy some early and middle episodes. However, like mtatum mentioned, once the characters become caricatures, it's time to call it quits.

OH, by the by, a 7th and final season of Scrubs is confirmed. However, it's likely going to be on ABC (Scrubs parent company anyway) than NBC. Why're they prolonging the pain? Why did Scrubs have to fight so hard to be renewed in it's earlier seasons and now that it's crap it's so readily given a season?

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I really love the show and it would be a shame if it got cancelled. It has some of the best writing and doesn't take itself too seriously. I find it has some good commentary that's really insightful and all in all it has those episodes that just make you feel good at the end of them and then a couple that leave you feeling a little down, which is refreshing.
