What to buy? Old Thu Mar 8, 2007 2:00:20 PM #35301 Perm Link
I calculated that my paycheck this month will be 237 dollars, and that is a good chunk of change.

I could either

A) Buy a new hard drive and a motherboard for an AM2 system
B) Save the money toward an Xbox 360 and a small HDTV

I am thinking the latter, I should wait until the end of the year to build a new PC, and a small HDTV would be great with the 360 for college.

What do you guys think?

And no, I am not interested in a Wii or PS3 at this point.

Buy a Wii.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

I'd save the money, at least for a couple of months. You'll probably be close to the asking price of a 360 and a small tv and you'll have a better understanding of where prices are going for comp parts. Though it might make the decision harder. Smile

Well, undoubtedly, the 360 will eventaully have a price drop, and new technology will come out for PC, and make the old stuff cheaper. That is inevitable.

What I will likely end up doing is building a new system, and buying Vista along with a 360 gamepad.

I would hold tight to your money until you can afford the 360 and TV, you can always go the the library or your friends if you need a computer

I already have a computer....

My hobby is building computers, and with games like Command and Conquer 3, Crysis, Unreal 3, and Gears of War coming out, I want to be able to run them all at max settings.

And yes, I am aware that 3 of those are coming to Xbox 360, which is why this is such a tough decision for me.

Just a little thing: When Halo was ported to the PC, it was miles better than the original game simply because of the mouse and keyboard support (and Halo was actually quite good in the controls department). The same will probably apply to GoW.
To conclude? Build up the compy.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!
