I have been working 12-16 hour days for the past three weeks, and I am ready to collapse. Someone tell me if there is anything really worth seeing in theaters right now. I would look for myself, but I don't have time, and Siskel is a nitwit.

Save your time and money and get Netflix. For $10, you get the movies right to your home. Trust me.

I'm going to Borat, though.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

That's a wee bit vague of a request, what genre are you looking for? I'll just comment on my own genre...

I liked Saw III, I think that's worth a view but only for horror fans (or, more specifically, splatter horror fans) and only if you've seen the other two.

There's no significantly good animation out right now, so don't bother.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I already have the one-at-a-time package from Netflix. My girlfriend has a queue the lenth of the US deficit, so I don't see many movies I pick very often. As far as the SAW series goes, I quit gore movies a while back because they aren't more then visual effects with no real plot or storyline.

Looking at the shows in theaters right now I would be better of just going back to work. Thanks for the input.

A movie with visual effects doesn't make it bad. Have you even seen the first two "Saw" movies? If not why not see them then as they are good thrill flicks.

The Departed looks good.

I actually find the Saw series to have a good plot (I really like it). Or a plot at all, 'cause you're right a lot of gore films have no plot, because they assume the people who will watch it have no brain beyond wanting to see gore. It's pretty much the same reason porn movies have shitty plots and shitty acting, it's not the center focus.

Unfortunate, though. Saw is good because it has a plot, but a lot of movies that were made due to the gore phenomenon Saw started have no or poor plots *coughhostelcough*, focusing on a bare bones aspect of what made Saw famous. But there's actually a bit more to it, which was a nice surprise.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I thought Flushed Away was pretty good, but the idea of a claymation movie without actually using claymation seems rather forced. Flags of Our Father's is one of the few truly feel-good movies in a while that is actually pretty violent. Man Of The Year has been in theaters for a while and was pretty good as well. Borat is pretty funny as well.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

The last two movies I saw were "The Departed" and "Stranger than Fiction". They were both absolutely fantastic movies. Stranger than fiction is a very humorous drama, and not a dramatic comedy. Don't go looking for typical Will Ferrel here, as you will find something quite different, and quite amazing.

The Departed is very violent and has a good amount of strong language, but is another fantastic mind bender that has one of the craziest endings in recent history.

Go see them both.

I really want to see that. Robin Williams is one of my favorite actors, whether he is doing a comedy or drama, he is just good.

If anyone hasn't seen it, I suggest they check out Good Will Hunting. Very good flick.

i think only those films are worth watching through which we learn something, like a movie which is made on some real story or at least there is something real in it.

That kind of defies one of the core aspects of movies, though - escapism. 'course that's only my opinion but that is a large driving point for the industry.

LOL I still don't know how you don't know how to use the edit button.

The edit button should take you to a page where you can "edit" your post. If its a post from the count to 1000 thread all that should be shown was the number you posted.

If you have a question (regardless of how dumb it is), you should post it in the FAQ.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.

This looks like my best bet. It seems that the world doesn't need saving for a very short period on Sunday afternoon, so if Stranger than Fiction or Departed is playing I will be seeing it. Thanks for the advice everyone!
