What do you want to see in the next GTA? Where do you want it to be? Who do you want to star in it? Here's a few of my thoughts. Sorry, I know it's long.

Imo I don't really care where the next GTA is. I just hope they make the map easier to memorize. I always felt lost in SA. For the main character, I just hope the character is more likable than CJ. It's pretty bad when even a mute character (Claude from GTA3) has more charisma than CJ. If I could really have my way, I'd like a female character to play the lead. I think that would be really interesting. Here's some other stuff I'd like to see in the next GTA:

-First person view mode (able to actually walk around and do stuff in fpv)
-Create a character
-Put at least 3 different colored movable dots on the map screen (instead of just one red one).
-Add option to use d-pad to drive
-Make speed blur optional.
-Change the camera angles so that they're more top-down instead of down-up (in SA you could barely see what's in front of you if you didn't adjust the camera, which is a pain)
-Bring back the "change skins" cheat
-Ability to mod every vehicle (including trucks, bikes, etc) with every possible mod.
-A Bond-like mod place where you can mod your car with bulletproofing, fireproofing, tire popping strips, smoke screens, etc.
-Faster changing clothes menu. Should have the ability to view the article of clothing without having to put it on.
-Put restricted areas (5-star areas) in the very corners of maps, or in very out-of-the-way areas, like in VC.
-Make the cop uniform able to get you into those restricted areas.
-Less cops. In SA, there were sometimes 10 cops on one block. that's ridiculous.
-Make cops drive slower. They drive crazy fast all the time and they end up ramming me, causing me to get wanted stars. They should drive all slow, like they're patrolling.
-Better driver A.I. (drive slower, especially when turning or switching lanes)
-Chauffeurs. Make it so you can choose from a list of destinations. And have the option to just have somebody else drive around randomly anywhere while you sit shotgun and just watch or do w/e.
-Put back in the thing where passengers in the car you hijack will refuse to jump out of the car if you press x at the right moment, and will continue to sit in your car and scream
-Put back in the thing where you can have sex with hookers as many times as you want if you just accelerated before she got out.
-Put in the ability to jump into any convertible (in SA you can only jump into certain ones)
-Bring back the taxis (like in VC) that take you back to your last mission.
-Use "trip skip" far more often. Or use trip skip to skip over like, the entire first half of a mission especially if it's a really long mission.
-Ability to run forever. In SA, my CJ has full stamina and medium muscle, yet still runs out of gas in about 15 seconds or so.
-Upgrade the camera system so that when somebody takes your picture, the angle is straight (in SA it's always crooked and awkward) and the camera view you control should be just like your normal camera view.
-Make one stars dissapear quicker. I shouldn't have a cop chasing after me all day and night just bc I punched my own car.
-Less tedious item collecting missions (like the horseshoes, etc). At least make them easier to find and do (able to do without a guide). The photo ops were especially tedious.
-Make the sex toys more accessible (have one avail at every cop station or something).
-Make the R3 jump go higher, like in VC
-Fix the dating glitches
-Fix all the glitches, even if it means not having a bigger game and cool new things. Bc after all, what's the point of having all these new things if glitches ruin them? For example in SA, dating and working out and modding cars are all cool new additions, but I can't do any of them bc of glitches. I'd rather have a small but solid game than an ambitious but unplayable game.

How about: Not making a stupid deal with Sony that says they have exclusive rights to GTA 4. Or! Allowing Sony to have a hold on the GTA games for a six month span before other consoles (at least).

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

-bring back the old "people drive far slower than you're car on highway" Seroiusly, it's very stupid that driving a Super GT with nitrous is about equal to a cabbie on the highway.
-bring back the gangs fighting with each other in addition to you, not ike in San Andreas, but like in Vice City where the gangs would shoot at everything with a gangster in it of a different gang
-make an ability for other gangs to gain territory in other areas, without using that damned plane glitch
-bring back the ability to look in fisrts person to adjust the angle when you're walking on narrow ledges
-bring back the Stinger. So what if it's only one car. It was probably the best one in Vice City.
-make another car that handles like the Stallion used to.
-bring back the Sabre Turbo. Self Explanatory.
-make the Infernus look like a Lambourghini again.
-bring back the FBI Washington
-make the Rhino's turret fire like it used to
-make it possible to rob stores again
-bring back the tool stores
-say what ended up happening to Vercetti in Vice City, not just his friggin' lawyer
-continue the large bout with the Leone and Forelli families
-make the Hunter's missiles able to lock on
-make another crane helicopter that you can use
-allow you to use your own cars in street races again
-allow you to make your own vanity plates and save them
-make the Hydra able to do Vigilante missions against air vehicles
-make all planes fly as easily as the Skimmer from Vice City
-make a plane race against other planes
-bring back the rampage missions and RC car rampage missions
-bring back the gang respect meter (from GTA 2)
-bring back the PSG-1 and M-60
-rebalance the damn minigun (I like the aiming feature, but why does it shoot 3 times faster than in Vice City)
-bring back the bullet streak effects (from Vice City)
-bring back fast reload
-bring back a heavy artillery shop (like Phil's Places from III and Vice City)
-make the patriot spawn SOMEWHERE outside of the damn army bases
-make it so flying a government vehicle over a governtment base wont get you shot down
-make the cops less stupid (If I just hit a station wagon going probably near 180, make the cops at least notice)
-fix the damn garages so the cars stop disapearing
-bring back gang versions of cars
-make the main character able to shoot and drive (like in Mafia)*****
-make the different parts (wings, tires, etc.) effect performance
-make a lowering kit option instead of just a hydralics option
-change the hud back to numbers instead of bars

*****Most important thing, period.

Too much to go thru individually, so I'll just say amen to everything you said. Here's a few more ideas:

-Make cops beat up ANYONE (not just you) who punches or shoots somebody. It's not fair that the cops only go after CJ.
-Definitely go back to the mafia roots. Let's get out of the ghettoes. The mafia makes for much more interesting characters and stories.
-Better mapping of the city. In VC and GTA3, the layout was intuitive and easy to remember. I always felt lost in SA, even after hours and hours of gameplay. Just bc the area is larger doesn't mean it should be harder to find your way around.
-Female main character. This is just my wish. Although I do think that a female character would work, and would be pretty interesting to everybody. It would be neat twist to play as a female doing all these naughty gta things. And you wouldn't even have to take out the strippers or the prostitutes either.
-Larger garages. There should be at least one large garage (able to hold at least 3 cars) in every main area/city.
-Make every safe house come with a garage.
-Editable radio playlist for each station, also make option to turn DJ commentary on/off
-Better 100% reward. Maybe still have the tank, Hunter type stuff appear when you get 100%, but you should have the ability to choose which location you want it to spawn at. Or even better, make it spawn at all of your safehouses.
-Ability to customize houses. If ppl complain that this is too much like the sims, just realize that this would be a completely optional feature (just like my create a character idea).

Exclusivity sucks, but at least GTA is such a good game, it almost justifies having to buy another console for it.

That's funny, I've been thinking about this a lot laytely
It should be in the 60s where you can shoot down hippies haha sorry that'd be funny...
but seriously, 70s would be cool too...i'm trying to think of a decade that actually had good music and good cars...
i agree, making your own character would be neet. kinda like mixing GTA with the Sims, but not the whole family thing. they should have animals. The animal rights activists have no argument because in the previous games there was human killing and humans are animals, they didn't complain before they shouldn't complain now.
It also shouldn't be like a fucking nano pet where you have to take care of the guy!! that's taking too much time away from my killing!! So it is as if they added some shit from the sims into it, but they added the wrong part.
I liked gta mostly because it was kill kill kill some storyline but not enough to get in the way, the guy was cool, the music was awesome, and basing scenes off of scarface added to it nicely as well...

Yeah, a lot of ppl didn't like the sim-like aspects of GTA SA. Imo they should always make features like these completely optional. At least the working out thing is optional. Anyway, if there was a create a character in a GTA game, it should be completely optional. GTA should focus on adding more options, and making more things optional (like the speed blurs, the controller setup, the DJs, etc). More options = more freedom = more goodness.

It'd be cool if Rockstar North added the following to the NEXT Generation GTA game, along with all the other cool ideas listed:

-Submarines/underwater vehicles
-Spaceships to explore outer space and other planets (dreaming, right?)
-Slower day and night cycles over an hour instead of 24 minutes.
- Ability to lay down on the beds for resting, sleeping, etc.
- Ability to sit in all those restaurant chairs like the peds do. Who stands at the counter and eats their food? Other than CJ?
- Let me go inside the Donut shop next time and order a dozen donuts. (Half kidding)

I apologize if I repeated anything.

The next generation GTA will be a totally new engine (I.E not based on a modified GTA3 engine, as Vice City and San Andreas were)
I believe that Rockstar is starting from scratch to take advantage of next generation consoles and PC's, so why not expect some more complicated extras??

Ability to drive 1st person (From inside the car with a view of the dash and 360 degrees pan)
Ability to be a passenger in a car
Ability for passengers to sit in the back seats of 2dr cars
Ability to raise and lower the roof on convertibles.
Ability to open and close car windows.
Ability to store stuff (Weapons etc) in the trunk.
Cars that get dirty over time dependant on the surfaces they are used on.
Ability to clean cars.
Ability to restore burnt-out cars.
Ability to turn car lights on and off manually.
Ability to turn engine on and off.
Ability to tow trailers with regular cars
Ability to lock car doors, set alarm etc
Ability to upgrade car security
Driveway parking, which works the same as a garage
Ability for player to re-spray cars etc manually rather than always relying on pay-and-spray etc.
Ability to fill up with gas/run out of gas.

Ability to use phones etc to call other charecters, a takeaway or a cab.
Ability to go hunting for animals in the wild.
Ability to camp out in the wild.
Much more stuff to buy in the shops
Ability to take and sell clothes etc of people you've killed
Make entering safe houses etc more realistic, with real windows showing outside.
Make burgulary missions more challenging (lock picking, forcing doors and windows etc)
Ability to interact more with Ai
Ability to legitimately buy, test drive or steal cars from dealerships, which are closed and locked at certain times of the day.
Realistic opening and closing times of shops, clubs etc.
Ability to buy drinks at bars and get drunk.
Ability to re-decorate or modify the layout of safe houses.
Ability to sell safe houses
Snowy or Icy weather.
Natural disasters such as tornados and earthquakes.
Ability to sell stolen veichles
Unique numberplates on all veichles and the ability to change them or buy personalized plates.
Ability to hide from the police, instead of them automatically finding you regardless of where you are, they have to track you.
Crimes have to be reported by witnesses (which can be killed/bribed) before the police are dispatched.
Traffic levels change depending upon time of day and time of week.
Ability to be put in prison and ability to break out or be rescued/bought out.
Cars that appear in radio adverts: Mibatsu Thunder, Mibatsu Monstrosity etc actually appear in game.
Temporary safe houses e.g ability to rent a motel room for the night.
Elevators
Parking meters and parking attendants with wheel clamps/fines.

Some great ideas.

Or we could actually experience that in reality. Seriously though, those are some really cool ideas I wouldn't mind seeing in GTA4 for the PS3. That's really detailed, but apparently, the next gen systems are going to have high Artificial Intelligence.

Just a side note, maybe we'll see some of these ideas in the PS2's new GTA: Liberty City Stories, currently being set for a late spring release by Rockstar. (It was formerly the PSP game, now ported to the PS2 with new features...)

i'd definately like the ability to use public transport (get into a bus and use it lifitimately, or bribe the driver ; same with cabs) and to be able to get normal people to drive for you so you can do a drve-by or just relax. This shouldn't work with all drivers.
Have seperate heat for car and person. (at the car showroom in VC you could get a car from a garage, drive a few metres into the pay'n'spray, get sprayed, get out and go away on foot. all with cops watching you. They should at least be able to recognize the character for some time.)

On the PS3, the AI should be much better. I agree, the Police in GTA can't seem to remember what Player 1 looks like after he visits Pay'n Spray.

GTA COP following CJ: "He pulled into a pay'n spray in a blue sportscar. (The door closed. Door opens...) Wait a second, this car's not blue. I lost him."

Rockstar did address it a little, cause if you do a crime a few seconds after driving out of pay'n spray, they'll know it's you and chase.

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories for the PS2 isn't bad, but it's missing all forms of air travel. Not even the Dodo makes an appearance in the PS2 version...

Yes, it was for the PSP.

Sony is like Nintendo on portables. They rehash good games. That isn't bad, but the PSP is a POS.

They just released a port of the PSP version to the PS2, GTA: Liberty City Stories on June 6th, 2006. It's not bad, but haven't found any aircraft. Don't own a PSP, so I picked this up for 20 bucks new.

Wow, I believed the hype even. I thought it was only coming out on the Xbox 360. Is it coming out for the PC at the same time?

* Grand Theft Auto IV will be simultaneously available for the PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360™ and is currently planned to be in stores in North America on October 16, 2007 and in Europe on October 19, 2007.
* Microsoft and Rockstar Games have announced a strategic alliance to provide exclusive episodic content for Xbox Live®, giving the community ever-expanding gameplay experiences that aren't possible on other consoles.

looks like M$ is over-hyping finer points and that the PC is no planned platform.

I hate that. Why do they leave the PC out? Microsoft completely shitbombs on games on the PC.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

That's stupid. Screw them. I won't play it then.
