Thumbs down SeaMonkey keeps crashing Old Wed Dec 22, 2010 10:55:35 PM #144749 Perm Link
SeaMonkey keeps crashing on me, even when I am in the middle of posting something. It is really annoying, because this install of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is very fresh (under 2 weeks old), and it is annoying the **** out of me. Firefox did the same thing and the last straw for that browser was when it started asking what to do with PHP files, so I left it. SeaMonkey has only done that once, and then it quit doing that.

Can anyone help me solve this glitch?

Start it in a terminal and wait till the crash happens... then post the log.

Here it is;

Code

(seamonkey-2.0-bin:15902): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead
The program 'seamonkey-2.0-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 1565764 error_code 175 request_code 153 minor_code 7)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

What's going on?

Edit: I do have to apply some updates to Ubuntu.

Decided to switch to Epiphany. Working good so far. Thought that SeaMonkey's crashes was due to Nvidia's driver, but when I disabled that, they continued. So I'll use Epiphany instead.

This is a weird bug. It might be in the Firefox (Seamonkey) rendering engine like XUL. It's strange that it happens on a fresh install. Do you have any hardware issues going on?

None that I'm aware of. In Windows XP SP3, I cannot get the Windows Installation Service to work. Sad

Just updated to Ubuntu 10.10 from 10.04 LTS. I am hoping that this will cure the problem.

Edit: All browsers kept crashing so I did a total wipe and went back to XP solely. Ironically, the Windows Installer Service now works perfectly! :P
