I'm very tempted to switch to cable internet...

Hey,

I'm getting really tired of my ADSL router overheating and automatically turning off, thus booting me off the web! I've tried everything I can think of so far to keep it cool, but nothing seems to work. If this keeps up, I'm going to be very tempted when I get a job again to switch to cable internet and cancel my ADSL subscription.

Got any ideas to help me out? I called my ADSL and telephone supplier, and I'm getting a new one. His lone advice "to turn it off for an hour a day". Don't these people realize some of use need a 24/7/365 internet connection?

Can you use a keep-alive program?

I don't know if I can. It's a Siemens Gigaset SE567 if that helps.

It overheats and reboots itself. If it turns off, I get knocked off the internet.

Yeah I'm with Telus. The only other option here in Camrose is the cable TV company, Cable Lynx (Cable TV of Camrose). There service looks decent. If I had cash free, I'd probably switch, and might even go for the Triple Play option (premium cable tv, cable internet, and digital telephone for only 99.99/month. 911 service would be limited though.

Keep in mind that the $99.99 is before taxes and what not. It ends up being about $130.
